Team History
The Lake Simcoe Lightning Entered the Oshawa City and District Fastball League in 2002 and in 2011 are the second longest consecutive serving team in the OCDFL.
The Lightning have become a tight knit group and a competitive force to be reckoned with both in and out of league play winning numerous tournaments as well
as being in the league finals in 2007, 08, 09 and Winners of the League Brady finals in 2010. The Lightning have been anchored by long standing members
John Zeiger and Todd Hamblin, who along with Brad Copping have been with the team without fail since day one. Hamblin, Zeiger and Copping continue to bring
a hard work attitude offensively and defensively.
They consistently finish among the league leaders in many categories. John Kemp and Gregg Garrity bring a wealth of senior experience to the team.
Kemp was a member of the 1993 Toronto Gators who won the ISC Worlds. In 2008 Kemp was recognized as an All-World catcher at the ISC II
Tournament of Champions losing in the final to the California Lumberkings. Gregg Garrity has played with numerous ISC teams, in 2006
Garrity was named First Team All-World at the ISC World Tournament, he was also named top batter and RBI leader of the tournament
batting .667 for the tournament while amassing a tournament leading 10 RBIs. In 2010 Garrity and Zeiger both received second team All-World honors.
The Lightning have Marty Humphries, himself a veteran of many ISC World Tournaments and like Garrity a double threat at bat or on the rubber.
Recent additions like Mike Sedore also a 93 Toronto Gator Champion has returned to Fastball after a 15 year rest. Brad Fogal Brings his
Defensive and Offensive skills to the team, was also a former Team Canada Jr member. Jon Massie and Dan Miller continue to solidify the outfield,
helping the Lightning become a top competitive team in the league.
