The 2008 recipient started his fastball career at the age of six playing for Kedron in the park system. He played together with a bunch of his friends on the same team up until 1978 when he joined the Millwork fastball team in the Brady Division of the Oshawa City & District. 

In 82 he went to the Campbell Division with Whitby merchants until 84 when he joined Oshawa Caseys Sr B Team who went 22 and 2 in the City & District. The following year he played in the OFL with the Oshawa Blues. He continued his playing career playing with OASA and ISC affiliated teams such as Oshawa Merchants Seniors, ACL, O’Tooles and Mickey Finns Intermediates. 

Most of his over 28 year history in Oshawa Fastball were spent as a Player but in 92 he added player coach to his credentials He then added yet another roll of manager/coach to his impressive list, a roll which he continues to carry out with the present day Oshawa Ravens. The 2008 Buddy Yahn Memorial Trophy recipient this evening is Jim Trimm.

 

During Jim’s 28 years in fastball he has enjoyed many accomplishments including:

          O.A.S.A Mens Open Finalists in 93.   

          A fourth place and a seventh place finish at the N.A.F.A. world fastball Championships in 1994 and 95.

          4 World Senior Masters Championships in North Bay.

          O.A.S.A. Provincial Masters Champs in 03,

          O.A.S.A Masters Silver Medalists in 05, 

          Oshawa City & District champs in 84,92,06,07.

          Durham men’s fastball league champs from 99-02.

 

It is a Special evening for the Yahn family as they present the Buddy Yahn Memorial Trophy to Jim.  During Jim’s playing days he played the sport both with Buddy as a player and for Buddy as his coach.

 

Jim’s tireless efforts and dedication to the sport has contributed greatly to the continuation of fastball in Oshawa.
