As many of you are aware,
at the League Annual General Meeting on Saturday, January 27, 2007 the election
of officers for 2007 and the voting on any Constitutional amendments could not
be held due to lack of a quorum. Unfortunately, we could not determine
until the start of the meeting that there were not enough Executive members
present nor a sufficient proportion of teams represented to conduct the voting.
According to our
Constitution, there must be four (4) Executive Officers and seventy-five
percent (75%) of the membership present to vote on all Constitution and
membership based motions.
As a result, we
decided to defer the Annual General Meeting until Saturday, February 17,
2007. This meeting will be held in room H144 at Durham College
starting at 1:00 PM. If you need directions to the room please contact
Sylvia Ryan or me.
Several items of general
interest were discussed at the meeting which are outlined in the
attached minutes.
If you wish to be
included in the Executive nomination list in advance of the meeting
or if you have any Constitutional amendments or rule changes to propose, please
indicate your interest and provide the amendments to Sylvia Ryan as soon as
possible.
Finally, if you are the
primary or secondary contact for your team and you cannot attend the meeting,
please note that you must provide Sylvia with an e-mail or other note naming
another individual who is to have the proxy vote. In addition, you must
also state the specific motions the proxy holder is permitted to vote on (i.e
election of Executive). This procedure is outlined in Article 7.8 of the
League Constitution.
