The Scarborough Wolverines of the Oshawa City and District Fastball
League did it againas they defended their Junior Men's Canadian Fast
Pitch Gold Medal by thumping the Host,Saskatoon Jr. Diamondbacks
8 - 0 in the Championship game. ( mercy )
After finishing second in pool play Scarborough beat the third
place finisher B.C. 9 - 1 on Friday night. In Saturdays winners
game they lost to the Host 9 - 8 in a slug fest.
Sunday morning they got back on the winning track as they bumped
B.C., who knocked out Oshawa the night before, 3 - 2. They avenged
their loss to the Host from Saturday night
when they blasted Saskatoon in the Gold Medal game.
Chris Smith lf was 2/3, rbi and Andy Baechler ss was 2/4, rbi
on the offence. Blake Orr
was the winning pitcher as he threw 4 innings, allowed 5 hits,
struck out 6 in his shutout performance. Reliever Stephen Smith
allowed 1 hit and recorded 2 strikeouts.
Congratulation go out to Head Coach Richard Venne and his
Scarborough Wolverines in being crowned, for a second time,
Gold Medal winners of the 2005 Junior Men's Canadian Fast Pitch
Championships. Ontario and the Oshawa City and District Fastball
League are very proud of your efforts.
