Port Perry June 9, 2006   The inaugural OCDFL golf Tournament got off to a soggy start as rain washed out plans for what could have been a spirited competition for best foursome. About 35 players and guests arrived for the tournament and 28 stayed for the steak dinner.  A few die-hard golfers did manage to get in a round after the rain subsided.

Everyone who stayed paid a $35 fee for the dinner and the stylish new OCDFL golf shirt.  So that the day wasn't a complete loss, the premium Blue Jay tickets for games on Monday and Tuesday June 12 and 13, generously donated by Mike Skelton from the Scarborough Royals, were raffled off and raised a total of $185.  The raffle winners were Paul Boynton from the Stouffville Mennos and John Bailey with the Bradford Sox.

Additional prizes were donated by the Oshawa Ravens, Oshawa Rebels and Scarborough Wolverines.  Due to the smaller than anticipated numbers available, it was decided to raffle these prizes during the upcoming League All Star Game on July 19, 2006 at Oshawa's Alexandra Park.

Many thanks to all of those who attended in spite of the weather and for their generous participation in the raffle.  Thanks also to the teams who were able to provide valuable gifts that will help raise funds to support the League. With better weather the golf tournament could have been a great success.  Planning another tournament for 2007 or perhaps this September is something that League members should consider.

Thanks again to everyone for their support.
