It's 8:45 and by now the first line drive should have been hit, the first excellent play made, the first error committed, the first K suffered, a foul ball ripped just inches foul and a fan wondering when it is going to get warmer. By now we would have made a least one complaint about an umpires call, heard someone yell who has seeds and overheard a player say to a buddy jeez its good to be back at the park. All these things will have to wait till next for the Oshawa City and District Fastball League. We will not field teams as an organization for the first time in 80 some years. Sadly, here as in many other places the numbers of players is smaller than the need for leagues to support them. Most of the boys however have found homes on other teams in other leagues to continue to enjoy a time with friends and perhaps the occassional beverage as well. Over the next weeks and months the committed executive group will begin plans to reappear in summer 2018, so do not be surprised if you receive a communication from us. Have a most awesome summer 2017, enjoy ALL your time between the lines. For now. Executive OCDFL

We are very fortunate to have hosted such a fine group of players and repeat that you meet the best people in fastball. Thanks to all our fans and players for putting on a great show.

The Oshawa Double B Jr team qualified for the Canadian championships to be held in Tavistock Aug 2-7, 2016. Sporting a 4-2 record good enough for a 3rd place finish. Led by the stellar pitching of young Clayton Robinson and timely hitting by the entire squad the dream to go to the 'ship' was realized. Thanks to the strong competition in the OCDFL the team was ready for any and all. Clayton receiving the Bob Domic pitching award with these numbers 31IP, 3ER, 9H, 4BB, 66K, era .067, pretty impressive stats.

The last two weeks have seen some interesting events in the OCDFL. Several international players whom are staying locally have gladly joined with our teams to get in some playing time. You know you meet the nicest people in fastball and these fellas have been just as expected. We have welcomed Jerome 'the hitting machine' Raemaki and Jerome 'dont lead off to far cause here it comes' McKenzie both from New Zealand. Joining them the first night in bitter cold for him, Pablo Ortiz from the Dominualified for the Canadian championshipican Republic a cannon for a throwing arm. I think he has been more comfortable lately. Juan Potolicchio, world class pitcher and Santiago Pividori an upcoming outfielder both from Parana, Argentina joined the Oshawa BB Jrs in Scarborough June 21. Juan is as expected with his arsenal of pitches and treated the boys as equals. The Athletics hosted Jorge Lima, smooth defensive shortstop, from Venezula. Pablo Ortiz and Jerome McKenzie also competed with the Scarborough boys. Jerome Raemaki played with the Jrs and led the way at the plate as you might expect. Pleasure the have these quality players join us even if it only lasts a while. Go to Current Schedule tab and check the boxscores for results in Week 6 and 7.

The Oshawa BB Jrs had a less than stellar effort in Scarborugh on Tuesday evening. The perennially strong Athletics led by the no hit pitching of Kyle Linton and Andy Skelton handcuffed the young team. A 6-0 victory for the Athletics and some valuable lessons for the BB's. Check the schedule tab for next weeks games. See you at the Park.

It's an epidemic of old time fastball games in City and District as witnessed in Sharon on Tuesday night. The Lake Simcoe boys prevailed 1-0 over the league leading Scarborough Athletics. After several years absence, Chris Van Volkenburg a former Oshawa BB player, returned to best the Athletics and Max Montero. "Burger" as he is nicknamed tossed a perfect game through 5 and a no hitter through 6, gave up a single in the 7th to break the streak. Senor Montero held Simcoe to 5 hits and mirrored the 15 strikeouts gained by Van Volkenburg. Single, passed ball and single scored the games lone run. Will post boxscore complete when it it available.

ANOTHER exciting old time fastball game in Aurora on Wedenesday night. The Oshawa Ravens over the Aurora Windmillers 3-2. The game winning run scored on a wild pitch in the seventh to secure the victory. The game pitchers combined for 33 strikeouts. Local boy Ryan Swift set 15 down on strikes while Argentinian national team member Max Montero got 18 via strikes. Swift allowed his runs on a two run shot by Dan Collella in the 4th and then shut em down. The only blemish on Max's night was the 8 walks issued and of course the wild pitch to allow the winner. Hey, we are back, bet you thought we had disappeared but no here we go again for 2014.
We are back as six teams with a 20 game schedule, although the Oshawa BB Jrs will play an abbreviated schedule. That schedule will be posted soon.

Welcome back to the always competitive Lake Simcoe Lightning, the home town Oshawa Ravens and Rebels and the powerful Scarborough Athletics.
Thanks to the determined efforts of Nick Dambrosio, Mike Skelton and Dave Northern for keeping a team going in Aurora.
They will known as the Windmillers and have added some new personnel as several players from last years squad have family and work commitments preventing them from continuing.
The Oshawa BB Jrs will play double headers on as many Monday nights as the schedule will allow to give the boys a chance to get ready for the elimination tournament at the end of June.

If you are still looking for a team to join let one of the executive know and I am sure we can hook you up.

Let the summer arrive so we can get at it.
See ya at the park.

Chris Jones named to the Oshawa Sports Hall of Fame. Chris played for many years in the Oshawa City & District Fastball League
as a member of the always powerful Claremont Rebels. More recently he has been a member of the Oshawa Ravens.
As a member of the Rebels the multi tooled shortstop was a model for all to emulate. The Rebels with his leadership regularly won
the league championship. Jones knows a thing or two about winning gold wearing Canada's colours as well.
Jones was a slick-fielding shortstop who won 12 gold medals at International Softball Congress events,
including three for his country. The Canadian team's 1999 win at the Pan Am Games in Winnipeg remains to this day his highlight
          Congrats Jonesy well deserved.

Paul Koert of Aurora Shoeless Joe's and Andy Skelton of the Scarborough Athletics were selected and jumped at
the chance to attend. Newfoundlander now Torontonian, Steve Mullaley who played with the Joe's during the
summer 2012 attended as well. Steve and his maritime buddies put together some haralious clips that are must
viewing. (link at the bottom of this message). A testament to the strong fastball breeding ground that is Newfoundland
as Steve was accompanied by five other born and raised Newfs. Last but not least a young Brandon Horn played in the OCDFL
as a member of the highly successul Scarborough Wolverines.
