Oshawa City and District Fastball League (OC&DFL) Enters 81st Season |
| TFASTBALL DOUBLEHEADER AT ALEXANDRA PARK
OSHAWA, ON, JULY 13, 2011: Fastball enthusiasts can relive the heyday of fast pitch softball at Alexandra Park on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 beginning at 6:00 PM. The Oshawa City and District Softball Association which includes the NASC House League Softball, Oshawa Minor Fastball (Bulldogs), Oshawa Double ‘B’ Sports Club and the Oshawa City and District Fastball League (OCDFL) will be presenting a fastball doubleheader beginning with the Oshawa NASC Bantam All Stars versus the Oshawa Bantam Bulldogs followed by the OCDFL All Star game featuring National Team pitchers Todd Martin and Paul Koert.
This year is the 63 nd anniversary of the NASC and the occasion will be highlighted with softball games at various levels being played on all four diamonds at Alexandra Park. The feature game is the Bantam All Stars playing on diamond #1. This team will be selected by the NASC Executive from within the Bantam Division.
The OCDFL is in its 85 th year, longer than any other sports organization in the City, and as a league boasts some of the best men’s fastball talent in the province if not the country. The league is a premier men’s travelling league with teams from Oshawa to Lake Simcoe. You won’t want to miss this talented display of pitching, fielding and hitting.
The OCDFL will also feature a homerun hitting contest that should delight fans of all ages
The Association hopes to raise some funds to support the NASC through a 50/50 draw. A concession stand will also be operated by Oshawa Minor Fastball that will provide ballpark hot dogs, hamburgers and soft drinks.
Alexandra Park was a proverbial hot bed of fastball activity during the 60’s and 70’s and 80’s and showcased several outstanding teams from the area including Oshawa Tony’s, Gale Lumber and Scugog Cleaners Juniors. Some of the greatest players in fastball played at Alexandra Park at one time or other including Canadian Hall of Famer Pete Landers along with Bob Domick and Charlie Justice.
